Cross Country is my favorite sport. I have been running cross since the sixth grade, and have had a love/hate relationship with it ever since. People often ask me; "Why would you subject yourself to that?" The answer is pretty complicated, and I'm not sure that I even entirely understand it myself. There is just something about it, some meditative quality that comes on after you have been running for a while. It puts you in a zone where you live in the present and you don't have any brainspace to commit to actual thoughts. That feeling is often called the "runner's high", and in my own way, I live for it.
