Some of you may wonder why I have a random baby picture of me in the hospital on here.....well here's the story why. On May 10, 1996, my mom was rushed in for an emergency C-section to have me. But let me tell you about what my mom had to go through to get to this point. My mom had to be on bed rest for 134 days with me. At her one appointment, she also had found out that I would have a twin brother/sister. On March 19th, my mother started to hemorrhage, was rushed by ambulance to the Watertown hospital, then eventually transfered to Sioux Falls. My life and my moms was in danger. The morning of May 10th my mom knew something was wrong which led to an emergency C-section. At 12:59 pm, I was born, not breathing but I had a heartbeat. The doctor worked on me for 17 minutes to get me breathing, which is a miracle in itself, as before I was born my parents were told if preemies aren't breathing when their born, they only work on them for 5 minutes. I weighed in at a whopping 2 lbs, and was 14 inches long. Now the doctors said I probably wouldn't survive, but if I did, I wouldn't be able to walk or talk and would have lots of problems for the rest of my life. I was on 3 different incubators and all sorts of other machines. After 3 months of being in the hospital, on August 27, 1996, I finally was able to come home. It took a long time for me to get fully healthy. The first 3 years of my life were spent mostly either at basketball games or in the hospital. When I was 3 years old, I got a real bad case of double Pneumonia and was airlifted to Sioux Falls. I managed to prove the doctors wrong again by surviving this, given my bad lungs. It wasn't until I was about 10 years old when I was fully healthy and had no medical problems. They say that if you were born a preemie baby that as you get older you start to have a few mishaps here and there, which I have. In 6th grade, I was in the hospital for about a month because of another medical problem. Ever since then, I have been healthy. One thing you may not know about me is that my twin was actually a boy. My parents never knew that because my mom had miscarried him. But I have a twin instinct that tells me that he was my brother and ever since I was about 3 years old, I have always told my mom that my twin was a boy.
